Mission
The Working Mothers Support Network’s mission is to make the University of Mississippi a more family friendly environment by providing support to its working mothers.
Who We Are
The Working Mothers Support Network was formed in April 2016 with the support of The Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies. Group members are secretaries, deans, students, professors, coaches, and everything in-between. Our children range in age from infancy to post-college. Participation is open to any mother on campus seeking support from women that face, or have faced, the issues that arise from being a working mom.
What We Can Do To Help
We provide a judgement free place for mothers to ask questions on family and work related matters. We can connect you with mothers who are knowledgeable in most areas. Our members have experience with balancing work with breastfeeding, various medical conditions, infertility, NICUS, IEPs, and the list goes on. You can seek help anytime through our private Facebook group. If you have a question or need support and wish to remain anonymous, you can email your Kelly Houston at kbhousto@olemiss.edu.
Areas of Interest
We are open to talking about any issue that a member wants to discuss. Recent discussions have focused on:
- On-campus childcare for infancy through pre-k
- University policies related to leave
- Breastfeeding
- After-school care options
- Work-life balance
