Working Mothers Support Network

University of Mississippi

The Working Mothers Support Network’s mission is to make the University of Mississippi a more family friendly environment by providing support to its working mothers.

Who We Are

The Working Mothers Support Network was formed in April 2016 with the support of The Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies.  Group members are secretaries, deans, students, professors, coaches, and everything in-between.  Our children range in age from infancy to postcollege.  Participation is open to any mother on campus seeking support from women that face, or have faced, the issues that arise from being a working mom.

Informal meetings are held the third Thursday of each month from 4:00-5:00.  If interested, please email to be put on the email list for meeting notifications.

Areas of Interest

We are open to talking about any issue that a member wants to discuss.  Recent discussions have focused on:

  • On-campus childcare for infancy through pre-k
  • University policies related to leave
  • Breastfeeding
  • After-school care options
  • Work-life balance

Smaller committees are currently advocating for change in some of the above areas.
